Wow I need to catch up on this thing haha. So Cory and I have been married for six weeks today! woohoo!!! Man times does fly...anyways Cory proposed on December 10, 2010. I kind of had a feeling that he was going to propose but didn’t really think too much about it to not get my hopes up in case he didn’t. He told me that morning that his sister Jenny was coming over from South Jordan (45 minutes away) because she wanted to decorate the Christmas tree in his parent’s front living room. Ok I thought thinking it was going to be really fun. We had also planned to go to Salt Lake City to see the temple square lights. He told me to dress up warm but cute because we were going to be taking a lot of pictures. So my thinking was that he was going to propose in Salt Lake around all the Christmas lights (and people...YIKES!!!). But when I got to his parent’s house all the family was there and were waiting for me to get there to start decorating. Cory took me into the front room to the living room to show me the tree and our two nephews followed along with everyone else. We started putting some ornaments on and my mother in law, Lisa, says that dinner was ready and to come eat. So we all go back into the dining room to start eating. Well at this time Cory disappeared somewhere but I didn’t think anything about it. He then comes back with a box of ornaments and asks me if I want to go put more ornaments on, without even thinking twice about it I say yes and follow him back into the living room. We start to put ornaments back on the tree here and there. He points at one ornament and says that he likes this one the best. I kind of look at it and agree that it’s really pretty. Cory then says I think it’s my favorite out of all of the ornaments. I again shrug it off and agree with him that it’s pretty. (I was really concentrated on getting the ornaments on the tree I guess). Getting frustrated Cory tells "LaBretta, look at the ornament!" I then look closely at the ornament that he was talking about. It was a star ornament with a little gem-diamond-like thing hanging in the middle of it.
The ring was sitting on the top of the point of the star. Once I saw the ring I started freaking out! Cory took the star off of the tree and took the ring off the star and got down on one knee and asked "LaBretta Ranae Anderson, will you marry me for time and all eternity?" Of coarse I said yes. We then went out to the dining room where all of his family was waiting and everyone started crying and laughing. His parents made us this delicious dinner that we ate in the living room by the christmas tree, candlelight dinner and everything :) it was really romantic!
